Romans 3:9-18

What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin, 10 as it is written:

“None is righteous, no, not one;
11     no one understands;
    no one seeks for God.
12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
    no one does good,
    not even one.”
13 “Their throat is an open grave;
    they use their tongues to deceive.”
“The venom of asps is under their lips.”
14     “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16     in their paths are ruin and misery,
17 and the way of peace they have not known.”
18     “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

Ephesians 6:14-17
14 Stand firm therefore, having belted your waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having strapped on your feet the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Christ Our Advocate

1 John 02:1-2

My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

Psalm 142

I cry aloud with my voice to the LORD;
I make supplication with my voice to the LORD. I pour out my complaint before Him;
I declare my trouble before Him. When my spirit was overwhelmed within me,
You knew my path.
In the way where I walk
They have hidden a trap for me. Look to the right and see;
For there is no one who regards me;
There is no escape for me;
No one cares for my soul. I cried out to You, O LORD;
I said, “You are my refuge,
My portion in the land of the living. “Give heed to my cry,
For I am brought very low;
Deliver me from my persecutors,
For they are too strong for me. “Bring my soul out of prison,
So that I may give thanks to Your name;
The righteous will surround me,
For You will deal bountifully with me.”
